Chapter 26

Tommy

The first years were preparing themselves for slaughter. There wasn’t a nicer way to put it. A number of them were going to die and they were none the wiser. Felix had already been through the rules with them all. He had explained the weapons stations and that the only way to win was to survive the night. They were now all routing through the black sacks that were full of stupid animal costumes, picking out the most ridiculous choices. Some were pulling on all in ones while others just wore a few accessories.

I looked over at Isabella. She had on a rabbit ear headband and had attached a pompom tail to her shorts. Madeline and the others had also selected their costumes too. They were all laughing at how silly the other looked and I smiled. Seeing her laughing, enjoying herself, was something I always wanted. The only thing that ruined it was the Italian cunt that stood beside her. But the bruising on his jaw and cheek and the cut above the eye was curbing the anger a little.

Even though I wasn’t standing with them, I could still hear what was being said.

“You’re arse cheeks are almost hanging out the bottom of your shorts and what the fuck is that?” He pointed at the pompom.

“I’m a bunny.” Isabella giggled, shaking her arse.

“You look ridicolo.”

Didn’t take a fucking language specialist to understand what he had just called her. I was more pissed when her face darkened into a scowl. My shoulders tensed as I stepped forward to teach him a little lesson on how to not speak to my girl, but Archie chirped up without moving a muscle.

“Looking good Russo.”

She smiled brightly once again, and I felt myself relax. Matteo glared at Archie for his comment then wrapped a possessive arm around Isabella’s waist.

“It’s a childish game.”

“It’s called fun Matteo. Maybe you should try having some one day.” She smiled sweetly at him, and my heart almost burst with pride. Her attitude was coming back.

Breathing out his annoyance, he tilted her chin up. “I’m leaving. Have your fun. I’ll be back in the morning.”

As he leaned down to kiss her lips, his eyes met mine. He was doing it to taunt me. To get a reaction. But I didn’t move. I just glared back. Isabella quickly pulled away though and he turned to look at Enzo.

“Keep an eye on her. Follow her everywhere.”

Enzo nodded but as soon as Matteo and Nico were out of sight, he sat down on the sofa, completely ignoring her. Isabella grinned happily then carried on laughing with her friends.

It was time for the next step of the night. “Callum. Start handing it out.”

He smiled evilly and picked up the black duffel bag I had retrieved a few weeks back. Inside was LSD. Each first year was going to take it and they didn’t have a choice. All except Isabella, Madeline, Daisy, and Jack. The four of us had agreed on that. They would be entering the game with a clear head.
